After his discharge, he returned to Los Angeles and began his career in music, eventually becoming one of the founding fathers of heavy metal-influenced hip-hop, a subgenre now known as 'crossover.' His iconic roles in films and television shows, such as 'Breakin',' New Jack City,' and 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,' have further solidified his status as a cultural icon.
